Sauna and Cold Water Safety
Please do not touch the fire. The stove is for Mud and Wool staff use only. Please do not touch it, add logs, open or close the stove door, or adjust the stove vents at any time. Please let Mud and Wool staff know if any changes need to be made to the stove.
Please only pour warm water on the stones from the bucket and ladle provided and nowhere else.
Be careful when pouring water on the stones as hot steam will rise and could burn your arm. Pour from the back of the stove and bringing the ladle forward so that your arm is never in contact with the steam
Prolonged exposure to the sauna may cause your body to overheat and you may become dehydrated. Limit yourself to a maximum of 15 minutes (depending on experience). We advise beginners to start with 3-5 minutes.
In the sauna there are benches on low and high levels. The high benches are much hotter than the lower.
No glass containers or bottles are permitted at any time in the sauna.
You may feel faint when first standing up with the risk of falling into or touching the Wood Fire Burner and burning oneself or falling off a bench. Please do not move suddenly to minimise feeling faint when moving around the sauna and outside.
Please be aware of slippery and uneven surfaces. There is a handrail either side of the steps.
Use the cold shower, drench bucket, or cold immersion bath with care. Take your time entering, and listen to your body.
Be aware of possible sharp objects in the ground outside.
