Artist in Residence
Jan 2023
My work oscillates around human rights, ecology, interspecies dynamics and empathy, the climate emergency and community action. It incorporates film, photography, sound and installation, along with some newer practices e.g. weaving and sculpture. I employ these mediums to produce intimate spaces for reflection and embodied sensory experiences. I hope to open up empathetic spaces and stimulate nature connection (particularly with local and perhaps overlooked elements) as paths towards eco-centric action.

My Art Residency
at Mud and Wool January 2023
I was really inspired by my surroundings and my hosts during my residency at Mud and Wool. Weaving and embroidery featured heavily in my work, including with/on natural, found materials. I also began to experiment with clay, creating small works resembling natural objects. I was able to continue my explorations into alternative photography techniques, though using pinhole cameras and through creating cyanotype images on paper, fabric and ceramics. In all these practices, I am hoping to encourage a closer consideration of, and connection to, nature, and to incorporate natural entities into the production of the works in ways that are ethical and impactful.
It was an incredibly joyful, peaceful, productive and nourishing month, in a beautiful place and with fantastic hosts - Thank you so much."
